Photographs of Physics
In this project we went out to find and answer three questions, "What is the nature of light, what is the nature of a photograph, and how is the study of optics relevant today." For this I chose to show reflection in a natural setting, this is shown by the waterdrop on the leaf in the photo refracting some of the leaf, and the ceiling of my house which is white and the brown ceiling beams.
"Waterdrop Refraction”
When the light that is traveling through air hits the water, some of the light is reflected off the water. The rest of the light passes through the water but it bends (or refracts) as it enters the water. The same thing happens when light hits glass or any other transparent material. In my photo, the waterdrop on the leaf in the photo is refracting some of the leaf, and the ceiling of my house which is white and the brown ceiling beams.

Reflection
I feel like my greatest strength for this project was my resolve. My resolve helped me to be able to stay focused and understand what was going on in this project. I also really enjoyed learning about light and its elements and some of their effects on life.
I feel like something that has been a problem for a while that I still need to work past is myself. I need to work on just getting to work, procrastinating less, and knowing that turning something that is not good enough (to me) is better than not turning it in at all.
The reason I chose refraction for my photo was that it was the most interesting element of light to me. Refraction is when light passes from one transparent substance into another but the image that light carries is bent or changed in the process. For example, when an object is seen through water, the image is distorted at an angle from the actuality of that object. Sometimes, the object can be mirrored upside-down as well. Refraction makes it possible for us to have lenses, magnifying glasses, prisms, and rainbows.
I feel that what I have learned as a scientist is that the way of doing something over and over again with the same consistent results, proves it to be true or false.
I feel like I did good. I felt interested enough to be pulled in and finish with a good end product. I am proud of my effort and determination that I put into this project. Of course, I could’ve done better and worked through it differently, but I am working on accepting my best efforts and working towards positivity.
