Design you're own art project
Artist Statement
Ian Gaver Animas High School Class of 2023 The Line drawing laser prints of designed art on Inkscape to a glowforge laser printer. Designed and tested over and over to find the perfect look for people to own. The dark laser printed look on wood makes the design pop, with this I chose to have a light and dark contrasted look and a bright wood for the design to be placed on. I created this work to try to open my creative mind and share it with others through art. I used art found on the internet, customized a little bit, and have my own unique designs as well. I started by looking through Pinterest posts to create work into my Inkscape designs and added many hours of editing. What I hope to get out of this is a vision of creating my own art and maybe even a hobby to take up extra time after school and later on maybe even a business idea. Line art has been something I have liked for a long time, but for the last couple of years in high school, I have been trying to create my own. To me line art is like the skeleton of a design, but that I am, through focusing on it and adding my own perspective and time, I can make it express its use, values, and beauty. (cool detail: line art dates back nearly 75,000 years!) How this fits into a group exhibition is everybody is sharing a unique artist expression, but in a group setting. My philosophy of this work’s origin is that the designs felt natural and went well with the materials that I had on hand. I have enjoyed the process of this project and found that I enjoy line drawings and creating my own unique expressions. |
